Krav Maga Yashir Boston has been teaching Krav Maga classes in Boston and the Greater Boston area since 2008, before moving to Boston Head Instructor, Gershon Ben
Keren, had several schools in London (UK), after starting training in Krav Maga (Israel) in 1993. His first Krav Maga instructor certification was with the IKMF
(International Krav Maga Federation), under Eyal Yanilov. A 29-day, 12 hours a day, program that involved sparring, stress-testing drills and teaching evaluations
etc. Since then, he has trained with many of Imi Lichtenfeld’s original black belts, including Miki Assulin, Haim Zut, Avi Moyal, and Haim Gidon. As well as his 5th
Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga, he holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hisardut (under Dennis Hanover), along with black belts in Judo, Karate and Ju-Jitsu.
His Krav Maga school was originally located in Medford, Massachusetts (2008-2012), before moving to Charlestown in Boston (2012-2022), and is now located in Woburn, less than 10 miles North of Boston. The Krav Maga Yashir system is founded on the same concepts and principles that Imi Lichtenfeld laid down and stays true to the original Krav Maga approach that is still taught in Israel. It also follows the same teaching methods and protocols. However, many of the training methods and drills, are more modern, borrowing from lessons that have been learned in combat sports, such as MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and BJJ (Brazilian Ju-Jitsu). This doesn’t mean that Krav Maga uses MMA or BJJ techniques – as these are primarily designed for a sporting environment – but rather the use of MMA style drills and training ideas are incorporated into the training/classes, following that which has been done in Israel.
Krav Maga Yashir is one of the few schools in the Greater Boston area that has strong ties to Krav Maga instructors and schools in Israel. The school has regularly
brought over instructors from Israel and Israeli instructors who are now teaching in other parts of the world, such as Miki Assulin, Roy Elghanayan and Ran Steinberg etc.
Gershon Ben Keren has also taken out students, from the school in Boston, to train and tour in Israel. If you are looking to train authentic Krav Maga and relevant
self-defense in Boston or any of the surrounding cities in Massachusetts, Krav Maga Yashir Boston, offers proven and effective solutions to real-world violence.
The best way to start your Krav Maga training in the Greater Boston area is to take one of our introductory/beginner classes. These offer instruction into the foundational concepts of the approach, as well as giving you the opportunity to practice blocking, striking and dealing with both armed and unarmed/threats and attacks. These 60-minute classes run several times a month, and the dates of the next ones can be seen on the registration form below.
